Shanahan signs for 8th WBBL campaign

Laura Shanahan has returned for an 8th WBBL campaign at Cardiff Met Archers.

The Cardiff native will represent her home-town club, after previously featuring for Nottingham Wildcats in the pre-WBBL era, as well as Reading Rockets, Cardiff Clippers, Cardiff Celts, Wellingborough Phoenix, and Archers II.

Shanahan has also featured for Wales in the 2022 3x3 Commonwealth Games qualifiers, as well as 25 times for the senior team in FIBA competitions and nine games for the junior programme across two campaigns.

Now ranking 5th in the Archers all-time scorers list, Shanahan is keen to come back stronger after last year's campaign was interrupted by injury.

"Being Cardiff born-and-bred, I love playing for Cardiff Met Archers in front of my friends and family every week. It’s a great group, with some really talented players, and I can’t wait to see the new guys in action."

Stef Collins, Head Coach, said, “Laura is the glue of our team, she’s well-liked by teammates, staff, and she really understands the game and her role in the team. She moves the ball, she can shoot, and she’s the sort of player every team needs.”
