Hungarian Habling hits Cardiff

The first new signing for the Archers this season is 19-year-old forward Lara Habling.

Hungarian-born Lara transfers into Cardiff Met from the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee, USA, where she played in 11 games in her freshman season.

Habling played in the 2019 FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship with Hungary, where she averaged 39-35-68 shooting splits with 13 PPG and 5 RPG.

The forward earned minutes off the bench in her first college season, and will likely initially work to earn those minutes off the bench at Cardiff Met as well, behind Shannon Hatch, and the Archers hope that she can continue her offensive development while providing important points off the bench.

Habling said, "I am really excited to play in the UK and play for the Archers. I think my skillset fits in well with what the team needs, and speaking to Coach Stef Collins, she believes that as well. I want to bring that competitive fire and spirit to the team, and hopefully we gel quickly and can get some good results together."

Head Coach, Stef Collins, added, “We are really excited to bring Lara into the Archer Family, and are looking forward to seeing what she can do. She’s demonstrated the ability to both stretch the floor and battle on the glass, and will bring added firepower to our forward positions.”
