Joelle Moreno, a very special person and athlete from Gibraltar who joined UWIC (as it was) in 2008.
Joelle epitomises what it means to be a sports person. She is highly driven and committed with a real love and passion for sport, something we are fortunate to have witnessed. It is not unusual for Joelle to be traveling the country, flying to and from Gib to represent, competing in multiple sports on the same day and finding time to coach in between!
As an athlete, Joelle has represented Gibraltar in basketball, netball and volleyball and also as head coach for age group national teams (basketball and netball). Having re-joined Archers in 2021 to play for the WBBL team, Joelle finished the 2023/24 season as part of the Bristol Flyers Division 1 team. Currently based in Bristol, Joelle is the Director of Netball at Clifton College and Head of Netball at UWE (we don’t give her too much stick for that and keep trying to encourage her back)!
Hear more from Joelle as she tells us about her journey and the impact that Archers Basketball has had on her. Starting out as a student athlete and now a lecturer at Cardiff Met within the school of sport and health sciences, having accomplished so much more in between.
Joelle, thank you for all you have given to Archers Basketball and for sharing your journey with us.
