We were delighted for Ethan to be presented with the Young Activist of the Year award as part of the Youth Sport Trust Changemaker awards. The award ceremony took place on Thursday at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, where inspirational young people from across the country were recognised for their impact, leadership, and dedication to making a difference.

Ethan has been a dedicated member of Archers Basketball since he was in the minis age group and is now a part of our U18 men’s team alongside coaching within our junior programme and studying at St David’s college. Ethan continues to embody what it means to be an Archer and a change maker— using his voice to inspire others and drive positive change.

Talking about the awards ceremony, Ethan commented -

“I was honoured to receive such an award and felt really special to have Sarah as part of the archers family by my side. It was a privilege to collect my award in such an iconic venue (Lords Cricket Ground) and get to know the other amazing winners whose stories were truly inspiring. I wouldn’t have ever been able to win an award like this if it wasn’t for the fantastic opportunities Archers and the Youth Sport Trust have provide me with. I cannot express how grateful I am to the people who have made this possible and will remember this day forever”

The event itself was a fantastic celebration of youth leadership, showcasing the powerful contributions young people are making every day. We are delighted that Ethan’s commitment and achievements have been recognised at a national level.

Head of Basketball Sarah Wagstaff had this to say about Ethan -

“We’re all so proud of Ethan at the club. I’ve personally loved watching him grow from an eager Under-10 into the intelligent and caring Under-18 he is today. His Young Ambassador journey has been incredibly impressive, especially the leadership he has shown through the work at the club and the 24 hour game in particular. It was a real honour to be there with him and his family to see him receive this award. Ethan has a very bright future ahead, and I’m excited to see what comes next for him.”
