Niamh’s life changed when she woke up as a C8 incomplete tetraplegic at age 14, but the former gymnast was desperate to return to sport, and joined the Leeds Spiders, while also playing for Wakefield Whirlwinds.
Niamh featured in the 2021 School Games, wnning gold, as well as completing the DISE programme and attending RPCs.
Niamh has since started her studies at Cardiff Metroplitan University, reading Sport and Exercise Science, and wishes to go into sports medicine as a career.
“I’m excited to train more and gain a lot more knowledge about the game and become a better player. I’m also glad to be able to do what I love more often, and to have the opportunity to play basketball and study at the same time in a great city at a great university is a really exciting prospect for me.”
